Most adults benefit from at least 150 minutes of moderate activity each week. Brisk walking, where you can talk but not sing, counts as moderate activity.

Start where you are

If you are new to exercise, begin with 10 minutes a day and add a few minutes each week. Short walks after meals also help with blood sugar control.

Stay safe

Wear comfortable shoes, carry water and avoid the hottest part of the day. If you have a heart condition, ask your doctor which level of activity is right for you.
